54 has set up a cool sub plot that i hope fred will explore more. Luan being at fork in the road staring down toward the dark path. As character set up goes this is perfect. It makes a grand paradox between her and Gar's relationship. It felt strange listening to sendera push Luan on; it felt like the opposite of what julia would say to her. I hope to see her fall from grace just grow as a character and have a bout with Gar that will completely blow away the emotion filled fight between Luan and Ayane.
Tiff is going to be a cool tribrid(part werecheetah, kyrn, and artifact) It seems her truths grasp artifact is already stronger than stripe's. AND extra points to fred for putting brit in her human form while interacting with tiff(if i'm not mistaken this is the first time for the color set(other than issue 4 respectivly))baby has to adjust to mommy in all her forms; now i want to see mommy tangled up in some string with tiff in cheetah form, that would be a cute pic.
on a side note: Bri is still using ammo? I know that she and gina have been busy but she has no time to explore her "infinity ammo enchant" and have they even told dear ol' dad yet?

GD 54 Nice work.
Well 54 was an interesting issue for Luan anyway, although I thought that she was still below Gar in skill, which means in the end she shouldn't be able to defeat Monty. Heck not even sure Julia could beat Monty.
Luan growing as a character is cool but whats going to happen to her down the road, I mean...lets say 6 issues from now? Is she going to become a full time character, or if she is, isn't she going off with Gar to train? That makes a lot of GD issues seem rather mute...putting so much effort into one character then to have them leave the series. To flesh out a character so to speak is sort of the way to keep the character fresh in peoples minds. To understand the reason they do things, but now with Luan (supposibly going off with Gar) it will be easy to forget all that Fred has put in behind her.
Now if Fred is thinking of a Spin-Off to GD with Luan and Gar now i could see the reasoning behind all this character development.
Reading 54 i'm still not sure where all this is going though, I mean the plot for GD is very obscure at the moment, more tangled IMO. Hopefully we will see some light at the end of the tunnel soon. I see one more fight issue (so much for Crush...knew she wouldn't show)then maybe we'll get back to the Dragon/Gina plot.
My two cents.

Finally it came in.
Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part.
A wonderful and satisfying conclusion to the double issue we've recieved.
Fred has been setting up the 'murder technique', and in true fashion, gave it to us, but not as we expected. That Luan is the developer of such a style, and not Gar, only highlights the type of people they are, and the personalites they project.
Luan has allways pushed herself, and hates things that don't go her way.
At one point, she had a choice in the fight to simply 'push' Shin out of the ring, but she chose to lay it on him. And felt the rush and exhileration of doing so.
Thus, she has the potential to be a 'dark side' chara. (sorry if I'm haveing to use a lot of star wars, jedi references here, but they absolutely fit the best in this situation) But though she has this side of her, she still has a choice. A person with dark abilites doesn't HAVE to be evil, but it does make it easier for them TO be evil. This does make it so her road will be that much harder then Gar's to some extent, especially when they set out on thier own together. But as long as Luan is not alone, she has a chance of not falling into the trap.
Some of the critical moments I noticed, her controlled takeing of the blows from shin, his moment of missing and leaveing himself WIDE open, and he knows it, her laying into him and then the beer can, and carla's realization of the danger.
One key moment that... kinda ... well... I wasn't sure how to read, was in the locker room. Luan feels confidant about her next challanger, even though she's just told ayane about the dangers of the techiniques, she feels she's still okay. It's the moment that Carla puts her hand on Luan's shoulder. Just... the look, I wasn't sure what she was thinking at that moment. Was it 'what's this?'
or 'you are TOUCHing me'.
My first thought was she had rage there. If just for a moment. Untill Ayane joined in, and realized it wasn't a challange touch, but a friendship touch.
At least that's my perception. Maybe I'm wrong.
I'm glad Sendra talked with her, and helped to put things into perspective.
Weather she wins or looses the match with montey, it doesn't matter. I think she's won the fight that mattered the most.
In other news, the lich king's back, and he's got a new body.
It's not tiff, but neither is it a good one.
All other little tidbits, you guys comment on. I got what I wanted.

Wow! What a fabulous issue. It really felt like it was a double issue because of all the scene changes.
If the Litch King continues to inhabbit Brittany, there is a very really possibility that the wererat seer was right.
Brit's human form was a bit different then the last time she used it (issue 23) - Her bust seems bigger (but then she just had a Tif) and she seems a heck of a lot tanner.
If Brianna's description of the G-X is any sort of foreshadowing, Tark and Meshas jail break, and potentially G'nola's will be an interesting affair.
I wonder what Tiffany's full capabilites will become. I wonder how she and Pojo will get along in the future?

I was gonna mention brit, but was kinda taken in by Luan's story,
but yeah, she's incredibly busty now in her human form, but consider, she's full juiced mode. My first thought about why she was in human form, was that she had gone for so long without being it, she just needed the change for a while, but thinking about it further...
Realize how big she is in human form right now.
Now think about how bad she'd be in her hybrid.
...yeaaaaaahhh...
It'd give some of the inflation fetish people here something to drool over.

| This would not be the first time a "good" character would have, accept and respect their "dark side". Mimi in the first Lich King saga was reminded of this by Natasha.

Well, she's still used to ammo, and the enchantment would drain her aura-strength. I'm guessing she'll get some help from pops before relying on her innate abilities.

Two more observations.
How did Fred and the colorist convey the fact that Luan tapped her "dark side"? Was it the dialogue bubble colored black with the red lettering and the slightly thicker eyelashes? As I recall...Luan used the same finishing move that Julia used in her Arms Master fight with G'nolga and Julia's.."HF" of exertion was colored the same way. Could it be that going to the proving grounds is the way an adept can learn to harness and control their " dark side"? Kinda reminds me of that scene in "Empire Stikes Back" where Luke had to go into that cave that was " strong with the Dark Side of the force".
Sendera said to Luan that she was "where you're about to go...I've already been". Could it be that Sendera is a weilder of a Murder Fist and she must keep herself intoxicated to replace the "Nirvana" these fighters experience?
It's always fun to speculate!!!

Luan has a nice butt...as well as being able to kick some.....LOL.
How do you pronouce her name, Lu- anne or Lu-awn as in Lawn.
Oh well, I guess looking at it is a different departure for GD. Still I'd like to see the Dragon plot settled.
Cheers
