The FPFC maintains a fairly active pair of Internet
Relay Chat (IRC) channels devoted to discussions of
and about (and sometimes including) Fred Perry. Most of
the time, discussion varies and includes anything that's
on the mind of the fan club's members at the moment, but
when a new Gold Digger or Legacy issue has come out, or
when some other event involving Fred is occurring, you
can be sure that this group is talking about it. And during
the semiannual FredChats, when Fred himself drops in to
talk with his fans, the entire day becomes a festive event!
The next FredChat is scheduled for: TBD
In
order to visit #FPFC_Chat (or the complementary channels),
you must have a working IRC Client on your system. At
this time the server we are on does not seem to support
a Java chat console. We're truly sorry to those of you
who would prefer to use Java, but we haven't found one
that's compatible yet. We'll continue to look, but if
at all possible, we strongly advise you use one of the
clients listed below.
mIRC
is the premier chat client for IBM PC Windows-equipped
computers. It's fairly straightforward to set up and
install, and connecting to the FPFC is a click away
after that. Get
mIRC!
For
those of you running a Macintosh OS, Ircle
is the chat client of choice.
Anyway..
now that you have an IRC client, you need to plug in
our information. Add the following server information
to the client's server list:
Server:
irc.esper.net
Port: 6667
Channel Names:
| #FPFC_chat |
-
Main IRC room |
| #FPFC_Spoilers |
-
To talk about the current issues |
Then
hit "Connect" and you're in! (You may also
need to type '/join #FPFC_Chat' once you get logged
on, depending on how your system is set up.)
If
you have any problems with any of this, please post
a message in the IRC forum
board. Any of our IRC regulars will be more than happy
to help.
If
you are unable to use one of these programs, please
try the JAVA chat, graciously hosted by Refrax.
