FPFC FAQ

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about how things work around the FPFC. A good portion of these are not steadfast rules, they are more of a general guideline, and rules of etiquette, to make everyone stay here happy. Any major rules will be properly marked, and should be obeyed at all times.

Q. On the art boards, how many images can I post at once?

A.

While there is no specific set amount, there has been a sort of etiquette around the FPFC, where you post no more than 3 images at a time. This just helps keeps others new art, fairly visible, rather than pushing it down to the bottom of the list. If you have a group of images that go together, you can always put HTML tags in the picture description, leading to the other pics.
eg: <a href="http://www.yourdomain.com/yourimage.jpg">My other pic</a>

Q. When I post an image, all I get is some page that says I can't access the image, or a spinning logo thing.

A.

First off, make sure you have the URL for the image correct. If it's incorrect, go back and edit the record in the members section.

Otherwise, it is probably the space where your images are hosted. Many web hosts now, do not allow people to post eternally from their pages, only on local pages. Check with where your image is hosted first to see how it is done there.

Another solution can be, on that web space, create a simple web page for that image, and in the image location spot when filling out the post, put the URL to the web page, as opposed to the image location.

Q. Why was my message/reply deleted?

A.

Under normal circumstances, the messages should not be just disappear or be deleted on their own.

If a poster has started a thread, and chooses to delete it, all the replies to that post, no matter who made them will be deleted along with it.

If a post contains material of an offensive nature, or is against the rules of the FPFC, it will be deleted by an admin, and the poster will be warned.

Q. Why are some messages highlighted, while others aren't?

A.

If a message has been posted, or replied to, in the last day, it will be highlighted. This is to sort of show which threads are more active, and have been put up/replied to recently.

Q. If I delete a message or reply, will I be able to get it back?

A.

Nope. Any message that has been deleted is gone for good. So make sure you want to before you do it. On the same note, if you edit a message, there is no way of going back to the previous version.

Q. I submitted something (link, suggestion, gallery pic, etc) quite a while ago, and it has not been added or anything. What happened?

A.

All of the admin here do this as a part time thing, doing it on top of their regular jobs and such. Some times time constraints in real life cause us to get a little bit behind and not be able to view all the stuff that has been submitted and update it.

Also, some things submitted will have to go through review, just to make sure they are ok to post. (that the content of the pic/page is ok, that there IS relative content, etc).

You should expect some sort of reply, one way or another once we get around to doing it.

Q. What is that Alternate Image Location thing?

A.

If you are unsure if a certain URL wont work, while you can always go back and edit it, you can post a different URL to try in the alt image location spot.

If a viewer clicks on the alt image location, it will come up just like the normal image page would, with all the replies to the regular, but with the alt image on the right hand side instead.

Many people use it as a extra place... for say when posting a colored image, they will put a link to the b&w version in the alt image location.
